A conference reception will take place on Saturday 3 December, at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, starting at 6h30PM. The Reception will feature keynote speeches by Ms. Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland, and Mr. Kumi Naidoo, International Executive Director of Greenpeace. Several new publications by CISDL, IDLO, Warburtons, the Climate Development & Knowledge Network and Oxfam will be launched at this event.

In the context of COP17 negotiations in Durban 2011, CISDL together with Warburton Attorneys Sustainability Law Specialists (Johannesburg) and the International Development Law Organisation (IDLO) will launch the first ever annual conference specifically focused on the legal and governance aspects of climate change mitigation, adaptation and finance in developing countries. The Conference on Climate Law and Governance in the Global South will bring together country representatives, development practitioners, legal experts and other key stakeholders to discuss the most pressing issues facing developing country governments and citizens, including:
