What is ISDL? — a summary for speakers & chairs

This concept paper summary lays out a preliminary definition of international sustainable development law. Sustainable Justice 2002 will focus on the legal principles and practice that have developed in the 10 years since the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment & Development - how countries and courts have sought to reconcile conflicting or overlapping international social, economic and environmental legal obligations through integration. Speakers will be asked to focus on case studies and illustrations, from their experience, of how these principles of ISDL have been implemented in courts, in treaties and in international institutions over the past 10 years.
