What can be done when international human rights, environment and trade law appear to overlap or even conflict?

In June 2002, over 250 of the world’s top legal experts convened in Montreal, Canada to compare experiences and develop a future agenda for international law related to sustainable development.

Sustainable Justice 2002 – Implementing International Sustainable Development Law was organized by the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law in partnership with the United Nation Enviornment Programme (UNEP) and the World Bank, with support from the Gouvernment of Canada.

The conference rallied the resources and expertise of the global legal community towards the World Summit for Sustainable Development to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa from 26 August through 4 September 2002 – ten years after the “Rio Earth Summit.”
