Ms. Daniela Chimisso dos Santos, BA (Am. Uni. Rome, Italy) LL.B. (Osgoode) is a legal research assistant of CISDL for the 2006 Academic Year and a candidate for an LL.M. in Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law at the University of Calgary. After her LL.B., Daniela articled and practiced with McCarthy Tetrault in Toronto. She moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2000 where she first worked with Baker & McKenzie, and then with Shell Southern Cone Gas & Power as Legal Manager. In support of her LL.M, Daniela was awarded the Canadian Petroleum Law Foundation Graduate Scholarship in Law, in addition to other substantial funding. She is currently researching the linkages between international investment law and development. Fluent in French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, Daniela has lived in Italy, Chile, Trinidad & Tobago, Malaysia, the U.S. and UK. Her interests lie in the intersection between international investment law, natural resources law, sustainable development, human rights and corporate accountability . Outside of work, she enjoys hiking with her husband and two dogs, in addition to traveling.
