Mr. John Roman Picherack
McGill University, Faculty of Law
Mr. John Roman Picherack is a legal researcher at the CISDL and a B.C.L/LL.B candidate at McGill University Faculty of Law. He holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of British Columbia, where he focused on intersecting issues in international political economy, peace and conflict studies, human rights, and international development studies. As a participant in the 2005 Cornell University – Université Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne Summer Institute of International and Comparative Law, he studied comparative corporate governance, international sales law, and an introduction to French legal systems and institutions. His current academic interests are in comparative corporate governance, business and sustainable development, corporate social responsibility, natural resource and energy law and policy, international trade law, and international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution. He is presently associate managing editor of the McGill International Journal of Sustainable Development Law and Policy (JSDLP). As a Youth Challenge International Volunteer, he spent a summer living with ASOPROLA (Associacion de Prodotores Organico de L’Amistad – an organic fair trade coffee producing collective) in Altamira, Costa Rica, where he worked on community infrastructure and capacity development projects. He speaks French and English, and has basic conversation abilities in Spanish and Italian. He enjoys mountaineering, skiing, surfing, playing hockey, photography, and good literature.
