Jennifer Ross-Jones is a third-year BCL/LLB student at McGill University, Faculty of Law.  Prior to pursuing legal studies, she completed an Honours B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of Ottawa, graduating summa cum laude.  She has held various research positions in the field of environmental policy, in government and non-government sectors.  These include internships at the Sustainable Consumption and Environmental Emergencies division of Environment Canada and in the Legal Affairs Branch of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency.  In addition, Ms. Ross-Jones attended the Americas Regional BirdLife Partnership Workshop on Climate Change in Asunción, Paraguay in 2003, where she presented a summary of her thesis research on land-use change and forestry projects under the ‘Clean Development Mechanism’ in Latin America.  As a follow-up to this, she served as liaison and research officer at the BirdLife International Secretariat in the United Kingdom where she drafted a practical Guide for BirdLife’s implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.  Further in pursuit of her interests in environmental law, during the summer of 2005, Ms. Ross-Jones earned a certificate of completion from the ‘Training Course in European and International Environmental Law’ at the Université de Montréal.  She is currently a coordinator of Environmental Law McGill (ELM), and a regular volunteer at the McGill Legal Information Clinic.  Ms. Ross-Jones is the ‘Project Coordinator’ for the CISDL/ArcticNet project under Theme 4.8, entitled “Strengthening Climate Cooperation, Compliance and Coherence.”  This involves fieldwork on governance and adaptation to climate change issues in the Canadian Arctic. Having completed the International Baccalaureate program in Caracas, Venezuela, she speaks English and Spanish fluently, and advanced French.  Her interests are international environmental law, corporate governance and corporate social responsibility.
