Kathryn Garforth, LL.B. (Osgoode Hall), M.E.S. (York) is a Legal Research Fellow with the CISDL. She conducts research on access to genetic resources and benefit-sharing, biosafety and health. Ms. Garforth frequently attends meetings of the Convention on Biological Diversity as a representative of CISDL and as an NGO representative on Government of Canada delegations. She has served as a consultant to the UNEP-GEF project on the Development of National Biosafety Frameworks and to the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity. She has also been the project leader on a number of ABS projects conducted by CISDL including the 'Laying the Foundations' international partnership project funded by IDRC and the ABS Implementation Study funded by Environment Canada. Ms. Garforth's recent publications include a case note entitled "When Worlds Collide: Biotechnology meets Organic Farming in Hoffman v. Monsanto" published in the Journal of Environmental Law, and a chapter on "Legal Reform for the Development and Implementation of Measures on Access to Genetic Resources and Benefit-Sharing" published in  IDLO's 'Lessons Learned' series.
