Ms. Deborah Elizabeth Gourgy
McGill University, Faculty of Law

Ms. Deborah Elizabeth Gourgy, B.A. (McGill), is a member of the legal research group for the CISDL, and is the project coordinator for new research on health and intellectual property, currently in its conception phase.  Ms. Gourgy has worked on CISDL projects concerning gender and law, implementation of international agreements at the community level, and sustainable project finance.  Currently pursuing a B.C.L./LL.B. at McGill University, the focus of her studies is international law, corporate law and trade.  Ms. Gourgy has a continuing academic interest in the opportunities for business to participate in promoting sustainable economic development globally.  Previously, Ms. Gourgy completed a joint-honour’s degree in international development studies and anthropology, one third of which was carried out at the Université de la Sorbonne in Paris, France.  Ms. Gourgy has also participated in several field-development initiatives in Southern Africa.  She is currently a part-time property manager for a real-estate development corporation based in Montreal and will begin working as a summer student at Stikeman Elliott LLP in Toronto in May 2006.  Languages:  fluent in English and French, proficient in Spanish and Hebrew, and studying Arabic.
