Ms. Anna Granova, LLB, LLM (Pretoria), is a Legal Research Fellow with the CISDL. She is a law clerk at the Constitutional Court of South Africa, where human rights is a focus of her everyday research. She was born in Russia, but immigrated to South Africa and completed the LLB and LLM degrees at the University of Pretoria. On the LLM level, she studied international trade and economic law, and published related to import and export opportunities of steel by the developing countries into the United States of America that have direct impact on their economic development. (See ‘Legality of United States of America Steel Measures within the WTO Framework’ (2003) 2 De Jure 434). In 2001, while studying towards her LLB degree, she took part in the International Jessup Moot Court Competition, which provided her with an opportunity to research issues surrounding biodiversity within the context of deep seabed mining. She also served as legal advisor to an aviation company for three years. Currently, she is enrolled for an LLD degree at the University of Pretoria. Importance of, and trade in, information, and its relationship to development and trade is one of her current interests.
