Ms Jessie Hohmann (BA (Guelph); LLB (Osgoode Hall); LLM (Sydney)) is an associate fellow with the CISDL. She is based at the faculty of law, University of Cambridge, where she is pursuing a doctorate on the relationship between the right to housing, development, and the World Bank. Previously, Ms Hohmann was associate lecturer in Australian Constitutional law at Macquarie University. There, her research and teaching focussed on constitutional and human rights, especially in the area of migration and refugee law in which she previously conducted extensive research with the University of Sydney. In addition, she is a barrister and solicitor of the bar of Ontario. However, Ms Hohmann’s first love has always been the issue of the right to housing, stemming from her time as tenants’ rights caseworker at the Parkdale Community Legal Services in Toronto. Her related research interests involve the meaning of development and its relationship with human rights in theory and practice; and domestic implementation of international human rights, focussing particularly on socio-economic rights. She continues to pursue these interests in conjunction with the CISDL.
