Prof. Maria Leichner,
Uruguay 
Lead Counsel, Cross Cutting Issues (Investment Measures, Corporate Citizenship, Regionalism)

Prof. María Leichner Reynal, B.C.L (Buenos Aires), Ph.D. Law (Litoral) is Lead Counsel for Crosscutting Issues with the CISDL. She is also Founder and Executive Director of the Fundación Ecos, and former President of Patagonia Land Trust (PLT) Argentina. Dr. Leichner Reynal served as Professor at Buenos Aires University, School of Social Sciences and Economics, and co-ordinated "Informa Mercosur", and has served as a consultant to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). She was named by the World Economic Forum as a‘Global Leader for Tomorrow 2002’ and is part of its Environmental Sustainability Index Task Force. Dr. Leichner is a partner of the International Investment Rules Project, and President of Fundación Ecos Corrientes, which was established as an ECOS subsidiary organization in Argentina, to develop the “Management and Conservation of Biodiversity in the Wetlands of the Esteros del Iberá”, a nature conservation programme with a strong social context. She serves as a consultant to the Organization of American States (OAS), the UNEP, and the World Wildlife Fund, and is the Mercosur Partner of the America’s Capacity Assessment (ACA) of the UNEP, the IISD and the CISDL.
