Amissi Melchiade Manirabona (Burundi/Canada)
Mr. Amissi Melchiade Manirabona, LL.M (Montréal), LL.B (Montréal), LL.L (UNB-Benin), is a doctoral candidate at the Université de Montréal, Faculty of Law. His doctoral research concerns the extraterritorial applicability of Canadian environmental criminal law to environmental crimes committed by canadian corporations in developing countries. More generally, his current research interest includes the application of international law in national law, environmental criminal law, corporate criminal law, business law and human rights, corporate social responsibility in a global context and international criminal law. He is also Aisenstadt‏ Fellow within the Hans & Tamar Oppenheimer Chair in Public International Law at McGill-University where he is doing research on the role international law in a national context. He is also teaching international environmental criminal law at International and European Environmental Law program offered by the Centre d’Études et de Recherches Internationales at the Université de Montréal (CERIUM). Since 2008, he is counsel for Africa for Notaries without Borders, an NGO devoted to ensure justice for vulnerable communities. He speaks fluent French and English.
