Mr. Khun Bunnath

Mr. Khun Bunnath, Pre-PhD Cert. (Turin), Pre-PhD Cert. (Florida State), Cert. (Wageningen), specializes in the policy research, policy survey and assessment on technologies, Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP), Environmental and Social Policy (ESP), agroforestry and agroecology, restoration, forest conservation, social-ecology, and forest ecosystems, Integrated watershed management, land use planning, forestry management, biodiversity conservation, and community-based natural resources management.
He has recently completed successful assignments with ADB TA-9915 REG: Greater Mekong Subregion Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Program, and TA-6539 REG: Investing in Climate Change Adaptation through Agroecological Landscape Restoration, serving as Deputy Team Leader and Country Lead. His work includes reviewing land use policies, forest landscape and fire management regulations, and institutional frameworks in target developing member countries (DMCs), and supporting projects in climate/disaster risk, adaptation, and landscape restoration.
He currently works for the Sustainability of the Transboundary Cambodia-Mekong River Delta Aquifer for Mekong Region Futures Institute Foundation in Bangkok, 10110, Thailand, as the biodiversity and wetland ecology expert for Cambodia. In Phnom Penh, Cambodia, he also serves on the steering committee for the UNDP/small grant program.
His most recent publications include: Cambodia Restoration Profile; Business Models for Sustainable Land and Forest Landscape Management; Good Practices Manual on Biodiverse Forest and Landscape Restoration; Community-based Climate Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptation Planning for Resilient Agroecosystems; and Using Advanced Technologies to Support Landscape Restoration and Climate Change Adaptation for the Technical Assistance (TA) 6539: Investing in Climate Change Adaptation through Agroecological Landscape Restoration: A Nature-Based Solution for Climate Resilience Project, 2022–2023. Additionally, a research paper for WWF on the field feasibility of agroforestry development in community forestry and related value chain interventions was published in December 2021, and gold mining company operation in Protected Areas by WCS-Cambodia and British Columbia University, Canada, 2024.
His primary research interests include biodiversity, ecosystem health, REDD, blue carbon policy study, land use planning, agroforestry/agroecology, forest sustainable management, and community forest management modelling.
