Dr. Sandra Cassotta
Asscociate Fellow (newly appointed)
Dr. Sandra Cassotta, B.A. (Brussels), M.S. (UNIMI), Ph.D. (Aarhus), is Associate Professor in International, Environmental and Energy Law, Department of Law, Aalborg University. Her expertise is on environmental regime effectiveness in a multi-level governance perspective with a focus on human rights, law of the sea (UNCLOS), and environmental security (particularly that of the Arctic Ocean), Energy Security and Geopolitics.
Sandra is appointed Coordinating Lead Author at the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for the next Report IPCC AR7 WGIII on Sustainable Development and Mitigation to Climate Change from 2025-2028. She also served as the Lead Author on Polar Regions (Arctic and Antarctic) at the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) United Nations from 2017-2019.
Sandra is also Adjunct Professor of Law, School of Law, Western Sydney University (Sydney, Australia), Fellow at the Sustainability College Bruges – SCB (Belgium), Expert Research Fellow at the Institute for Security and Development Policy, ISDP working on the Sino-Arctic Research Programme (Stockholm, Sweden), Member of the Governamental Panel of Assessment for the Academy of Finland, Expert at the European Commission (DG Clima Adaptation) and invited speaker at the European Parliament, Associate Adjunct Professor at the University of Adelaide (Australia) in the Institute for Sustainability, Energy and Resources in the Division Energy and Innovation.
