Natalia Andrea López Acero, is a junior expert in sustainable development currently enrolled in the MSc Sustainable Development programme at University College Dublin, focusing her research in International Environmental Law, climate justice, and the international financial architecture of the three Rio Conventions.
Since 2024, Natalia has served on the Secretariat of the Biodiversity Law and Governance Initiative supporting high-level knowledge sharing events and capacity building for the implementation of the Convention of Biological Diversity.
At the local level, Natalia promotes the sustainable management of organic waste through EcoBosque Urbano, a community initiative in her neighbourhood, and researches on better solutions for waste management in the city of Bogotá. She was one of the 22 mentees of the mentorship programme Women4Climate, from C40 Cities and the Bogotá’s Office of Environment in 2023. As an environmental leader, she was elected to the Local Environmental Commission at Engativá in 2024, a citizens’ engagement platform where its members support environmental management, public policy formulation and implementation, and foster dialogue between civil society and institutions.
She has collaborated with Human Rights organisations such as the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia, the Mission to Support the Peace Process of the Organization of American States, and United for Justice, as a translator. She is fluent in Spanish, English, and French.
