Federico Peralta-Bedoya is an Independent Costa Rican Attorney, Environmental Consultant, and Climate Law and Governance Specialist with over 15 years of experience advising companies, investors, public institutions, local governments, civil society organizations, and multilateral agencies on a broad range of legal and policy matters related to environmental protection, water law, land use planning, and climate justice. His legal expertise includes environmental impact assessment, strategic environmental evaluation, climate change, groundwater governance, polluted sites remediation, human rights and the human right to water and sanitation. He has participated in complex administrative and judicial proceedings and has served as an expert witness before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). He previously led the Department of Environmental Law and Sustainable Development and co-chaired the Department of Public Law, Litigation and ADR at LegalCorp-Abogados, a boutique law firm in San José. He also worked with CEDARENA and under the mentorship of Dr. Manrique Jiménez Meza, a renowned expert in public law.

He is an active contributor to global climate governance efforts. He co-chaired the Experts Panel “Advancing Climate Competent Lawyering Across the Board” during Climate Law & Governance Day at UNFCCC COP28 in Dubai. He has also participated in international roundtables on aligning international trade agreements with climate objectives, including discussions surrounding the Agreement on Climate Change, Trade and Sustainability (ACCTS).
