Adv. Julieta Sarno

Adv. Julieta Sarno, is an Argentinian lawyer specialised in public international law and environmental law. She holds a law degree from the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA), a Master’s in Environmental Management from the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA), and completed postgraduate studies in U.S. Environmental Law at the University of California, Berkeley. She is currently finalising her PhD in International Environmental Law at Leuphana University Lüneburg in Germany.
At present, Julieta is the legal officer responsible for advising the University of Cologne on regulatory and compliance aspects concerning the Nagoya Protocol. Before assuming this role, she served as a Research Associate at the Chair of Public International Law with a focus on Sustainability at Leuphana University Lüneburg. Earlier in her career, she worked at Argentina’s Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, contributing to environmental management and public policy. Her professional experience also spans the private and civil society sectors, giving her a broad, multidisciplinary understanding of environmental governance and the practical dimensions of international environmental law.
Her research explores questions of international sustainability law, with a particular emphasis on the global biodiversity regime.
