Adv. Lara Douvartzidis, Ad. LLM (Leiden), LLB & BEnvs (Adelaide) is an Australian-qualified lawyer and Senior Legal Executive at the Net Zero Lawyers Alliance (NZLA), where she leads legal research and strategic engagement on climate-aligned legal frameworks, corporate accountability, and just transition pathways. She also serves as the Special Projects Officer of the International Bar Association (IBA) Business and Human Rights Committee and is an Associate Fellow of the Centre For International Sustainable Development Law.
Prior to joining NZLA, she was a Project Lawyer at the IBA focusing on business and human rights and climate change, and before that as a solicitor and Pro Bono Coordinator at the Australian law firm Johnson Winter & Slattery and a secondee at Australia’s Public Interest Advocacy Centre. She has advised corporate and pro bono clients on environment and planning law, dispute resolution and class actions, ESG and modern slavery obligations, and transitional legal risks in emerging areas of climate, sustainability and human rights law. She lives by the motto ‘Teamwork makes the dream work’.
She also served as Associate to the Honourable Chief Justice Kourakis of the Supreme Court of South Australia. Lara was recognised as an Australasian Rising Star in 2021, a Finalist in the Australian Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Awards for Planning, Native Title and Environment Law in 2021, and a Finalist in the Women in Law Awards for Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year in 2020 and 2021.
