Dr. Graciela Jasa’s practice focuses on international trade and investment law, including disputes. She advises Canada on international trade policy and negotiations on investment, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and monopolies. Previously, she represented Mexico as external counsel in over seven investor-state arbitrations covering the oil and gas, mining, telecommunications, gaming, tourism, and agriculture sectors under both ICSID and UNCITRAL rules. Graciela has also served as a consultant for the NAFTA environmental dispute resolution mechanism under Articles 14 and 15 of the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation (NAAEC). Graciela began her legal career as a customs officer, public defender, and professor of international public, private, comparative and customs and trade law in Mexico. She is a dual-qualified lawyer in Canada and Mexico, fluent in Spanish and English.
