Dr. Rakhyun Edward Kim

Associate Fellow

B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Env.Law (Auckland), PhD (ANU),  Assistant Professor of Global Environmental Governance in the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University.

Mr. Kim is an interdisciplinary scholar in the field of international environmental law and governance with a particular interest in the application of complexity and network theories. He is currently pursuing a research agenda that aims to explain how the complex dynamic network of 7,000+ international organizations evolves and possibly adapts over time in the absence of centralized control. His publications appear widely in both discipilnary and interdisciplinary journals such as Global Environmental ChangeCurrent Opinion in Environmental SustainabilityEnvironmental Science and Policy, Marine Policy, International Environmental AgreementsYearbook of International Environmental Law, Transnational Environmental Law, Review of European, Comparative and International Environmental Law, International Journal of Marine and Coastal Law, and Environmental Policy and Law, as well as several edited volumes published by The MIT Press, Routledge, Edward Elgar, and the IUCN.

He joined the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law in 2012 as Associate Fellow.
