Kunn Bunnath’s areas of expertise include survey and assessment of community forestry, community fisheries, community protected areas and community-based natural ecotourism, natural resources management, agroecology, restoration, forest conservation, social-ecological, and forest ecosystems, Integrated Water Resource Management, participatory land use planning, commune land use planning, forestry, biodiversity conservation, and Landscape Management. He holds a pre-PhD certificate on Biodiversity, and Ecosystems: “environmental and economic issues to enhance mountain sustainability” from the Universities of Turin and Tuscia, funded by FAO, Rome, Italy 2017, a pre-PhD., course certificate in Community Ecosystem Services from Florida State University funded by WWF Washington and an International Diploma in Competing Claims on Natural Resources from Wageningen University, the Netherlands. He has recently completed successful assignments with ADB TA-9915 REG: Greater Mekong Subregion Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Program, and TA-6539 REG: Investing in Climate Change Adaptation through Agroecological Landscape Restoration as the Deputy Team Leader and the Country Led. He has reviewed current land use policies, forest landscape management, forest fire management regulations and institutional frameworks in target DMCs as well as assisted critical projects in climate/disaster risk, adaptation and landscape restoration, among others.
