Maria Alejandra Anaya-Torres is a Colombian legal scholar with extensive experience in public international law and human rights law. She is currently a JSD Candidate at Cornell Law School, where she explores the intersection of human rights, climate legal mobilisation, and global climate governance. Maria aspires to leverage legal action to advance climate justice. She has addressed the Interamerican Court of Human Rights during the public hearing of the climate-human rights nexus advisory opinion in 2024 and has observed multiple climate negotiations (COP 28, COP29, SB58 and SB60). Maria was the Director’s Fellow of the Reppy Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies at Cornell University between 2024 and 2025 and a Graduate Fellow between 2023 and 2024.
