Ms. Eirini Sampson

Researcher (newly appointed)

PhD candidate (Imperial College London), MSc (Imperial College London), MSc (University of Piraeus), LL.B (Queens Mary University)

Eirini is a Greek PhD Researcher at Imperial College London, where she is investigating the role of a just, consumer-centric heating transition in the UK and Europe, funded by the Natural Environment Research Council and the Onassis Foundation. She completed her legal studies at Queen Mary University before pursuing two MScs in Energy (University of Piraeus) and Environmental Technology (Imperial College London). She has previously worked as a Trainee at the European Commission’s DG ENER, in the Unit for Consumers, Local Initiatives and Just Transition. As an interdisciplinary researcher, her work focuses on the nexus of social and technical transitions and the application of energy justice principles in policy-making. Beyond her academic work, she is passionate about the role of youth in effective knowledge-sharing and decision-making in the climate change discourse. This motivated her to create Sustainability for Students, an online resource hub that aims to make the sustainability discourse accessible to all while amplifying the voices of the youth. She has been recognised for her work as an EU Climate Pact & Youth Ambassador for Greece, and as a Global Shaper in London.
