Ms. Eirini Sampson
Researcher (newly appointed)
Ms. Eirini Sampson, Ph.D. Candidate (Imperial), M.Sc. (Imperial), M.Sc. (Piraeus), LL.B. (QMUL), is a Greek Ph.D. researcher at Imperial College London, where she investigates the role of a just, consumer-centric heating transition in the UK and Europe. Her research is funded by the Natural Environment Research Council and the Onassis Foundation.
She completed her legal studies at Queen Mary University before pursuing graduate work in energy and environmental technology. Eirini previously served as a Trainee at the European Commission’s DG ENER, working in the Unit for Consumers, Local Initiatives and Just Transition. As an interdisciplinary researcher, her work focuses on the nexus of social and technical transitions and the application of energy justice principles in policymaking.
Beyond academia, Eirini is passionate about youth engagement in climate decision-making. She founded Sustainability for Students, an online resource hub designed to democratize sustainability discourse and amplify youth voices. Her efforts have been recognized through her appointments as an EU Climate Pact & Youth Ambassador for Greece and as a Global Shaper in London.
